Foot pain

"When I first met Ray I had been living with a foot problem for over two years. I had seen a podiatrist, had X-rays twice and an MRI and even been treated by another PT for several months. All without success. No one could tell me what was wrong with my feet or how to treat them so I could get back running. I described my symptoms to Ray. In just a few minutes he figured out what was the cause of the pain and discomfort and used a technique to help fix the problem immediately plus introduced some exercises to help prevent reinjury. I've even happily made the 2 hour 45 minute drive from the Burlington, VT area to Albany to see him instead of seeking out a PT closer to home." R.J. Shelburne, VT

Hip pain and gait analysis

I came to Ray after I pulled a hip flexor on a run. In just a few short weeks he helped me heal the hip and taught me stretches and exercises that will not just keep me running, but have me running stronger and better than ever! Having never had an injury before, I wasn't sure what to expect from physical therapy. He took the time to explain both the injury and how to prevent further injuries, why it hurt when I did one thing but not another. In just a few weeks, I had a much better understanding of how my body moves, and how to keep it moving. I highly recommend him to anyone who is interested in keeping active and injury free, especially runners. Don't wait until you have an injury to see Ray, have a gait analysis done and he can help you PREVENT injuries. K.C. Malta, NY

Knee pain

Ray has helped me tremendously during my training for my second marathon in May. He helped me work through a knee problem that ended up being a tight hip flexor problem. When my orthopedic surgeon could not figure out why I was having knee pain I went to Ray and he figured out the issue right away and helped remedy the problem. He is very knowledgeable and I would recommend him to anyone, especially runners! L. B. Averill Park, NY

From double ankle surgery to marathon!

Ray helped me through two ankle surgeries that were four months apart. Due to his amazing physical therapy knowledge I went from not being able to walk to running a half marathon within one year, and training for a marathon. Not only was my experience great while I was recovering, Ray is still there (via email) to help me through any ailment or general questions I have even though I no longer need treatment. K.F. Abdominal Strain

I struggled with bizarre low abdominal pain for several months last year that sidelined me from competitive running. After my doctor determined that it was likely muscular and recommended I see a PT, I sought out Ray upon recommendation from several friends. I saw Ray for just a couple of sessions last November and was stunned at how almost immediately, the discomfort I'd been feeling for months began to ease. Ray worked with me to determine the basis for my puzzling discomfort, provided me with stretches and exercises to do at home daily (even letting me take home some of his "props" to assist) and after just a few weeks, I'd improved so much that he told me to just come in as needed...which I never ended up needing to do! Ray seems to understand the body holistically and caters his approach to each individual. Highly recommend! L.D. Albany, NY

After cortisone shots, sleeping casts, and surgery didn’t work…

About a year and a half ago I started to experience debilitating foot pain that took me away from running and other forms of exercise which I loved. I saw 2 different podiatrists who diagnosed me with Plantar Fasciitis and they both recommended cortisone shots, sleeping casts, and surgery. After none of those options (even the surgery!) worked for me I thought I would never be able to run again and I was completely heartbroken. A colleague recommended that I go see Ray Webster and after one visit it was clear that Plantar Fasciitis was not the issue I was facing. We were able to narrow down the problem and with a small set of stretches & exercises Ray had me running within 5 weeks of seeing him. He took the time to figure out the real issue and gave me a method to remedy the problem and also how to teach my body to run again. Thank you to Ray and Claire for all of your friendly professional help - you saved my running! N.R. Rensselaer, NY

Thinking I’d never run again…

Being a runner and triathlete the last 10 years, I was lucky enough to be (mostly) injury free. After a particularly grueling spring race calendar paired with long hours driving in the car, I started developing sharp pains in the back of my knee and calf. The pain got to the point where I couldn't run any longer—I seriously thought my running days were over. As anyone who runs regularly can attest, I was utterly heartbroken. I looked for answers between countless hours of medical exams, imaging, and physical therapy. No one really had a straightforward solution for how to stop the pain—that was until I met Ray at Positive Motion. Ray's unyielding support and incredible knowledge of running mechanics is unmatched. It's an understatement to say that Ray cares about his patients and is dedicated to finding solutions. As a runner himself, Ray empathizes with the toll an injury can have on an active person. Through an ongoing series of personalized and productive exercises, Ray was able to assess and address the primary issues that caused my pain. We practiced how to implement these exercises into my established running routine, and investigated issues with my running gate and balance. I can confidently say that Ray helped changed my life by extending the possibilities of running for a long time to come. I couldn't possibly recommend a better Physical Therapist!
